Federal Court allows NY adoption agency to deny LGBTQ Couples
On September 6, 2022, a federal judge ruled that New York state cannot require a Christian family services agency to provide adoption services to unmarried or same-sex couples.
A federal judge in Albany ruled in favor of Eastwood-based New Hope Family Services, saying that the state had no compelling interest in denying the agency its First Amendment right to abide by its Christian beliefs in picking potential adoptive parents.
